March What I Bought | Young Living Edition

I am going to share with you what I bought from the Young Living essential rewards program in March! I will share what I purchased, how much I spent, what I got for free and what I think of the products so far.

1. Citronella Essential Oil – 15ml $19.50

Citronella Essential Oil

Well, with the hot Florida summer coming up quickly, this purchase seemed like a no-brainer to me. I have the kind of blood that mosquitoes seem to cling to. My husband can sit outside all day & night with no problems. I honestly haven’t used this product much but I know it will be used when I’m outside more than I am currently. I’m thinking about either trying this DIY Citronella Floating Candle Bowl or my own DIY Citronella Candle. Let me know in the comments what you think!

2. Thieves Household Cleaner – 14.4 fl oz $22.00

Thieves Household CleanerSo, I was lucky enough to try this household cleaner our before purchasing. My mom gave me some to use to clean some particularly difficult messes around the house. This stuff is MAGIC and will change your life. It takes out just about anything AND it is free of harsh chemicals so you don’t have to worry about kids or pets getting near it. I bought some 16 oz glass bottles on Amazon and put about 3 caps full of the cleaner and then fill the rest of the bottle with water. I use it for practically any cleaning need. For the price point, this product is worth it! Also it smells like a chai latte, so what’s not to love?

3. Cedarwood Essential Oil – 15ml $11.25

Cedarwood Essential OilOkay, so I know that I said that the Thieves household cleaner changed my life, but I cannot forget about Cedarwood essential oil. I have used this EVERY DAY since it arrived in my mailbox last month. Cedarwood oil is an excellent sedative that helps promote healthy, restorative, and uninterrupted sleep. Every night I put a few 5-6 drops of Cedarwood with 3-4 drops of Copaiba. Copaiba helps elevate the modd and lift depression and will amplify the effects of any other essential oil. Whether you have issues getting to sleep or staying asleep, this diffusing blend will help.

4. NingXia Nitro – (14 tubes) $38.75

NingXia NITROThere are so many benefits for using the NingXia products that I’m going to have to share all of that in another post. But I will tell you how I feel after having what I like to call “Adult CapriSuns.” These little tubes pack a big punch of energy and I take one of these bad boys any time I’m having a particularly sluggish day or before a workout. When I do take one before a workout, my workouts are better than ever. I push myself more, I have more energy to work harder and better.  They initially seem a little bit pricey but when you break it down, each tube is about $2.76. That’s cheaper than an espresso drink at a coffee shop!

5. Peppermint Vitality Essential Oil – 5ml $10.00

Peppermint Vitality™ - 5mlPeppermint Vitality oil is one of the oils that is included in the kit. This is another oil that I use pretty much every day. It is so versatile! I put a drop in my coffee, some on my forehead for a headache… The possibilities are endless. This was an oil I added on to my order because I wanted to make the 100 PV threshold. I know I’ll use it eventually when I run out of my other bottle.

FREEBIE! Lime Vitality Essential Oil – 5ml  (Valued at $5.75 Wholesale)

Lime Vitality™ - 5mlThis month I went with the 100PV threshold. I know that a lot of people will purchase to the highest threshold (300PV = usually $300) but I’m more conscious about my purchases. Sometimes it is worth it to spend the extra money on the top level and other times I just want to reach the 100PV so I can get at least one free item. This month I got the Lime Vitality essential oil. I have enjoyed having lime around. I use it when cooking, or I add a drop to my NingXia Red for a tangy flavor. I’m not gonna lie… I’ve considered adding it to something margarita-like (not sure if that’s something YL would approve of…haha).

So there you have it! At the end of it all, I paid $113.00 (Shipping: $5.99; Tax: $0.42). I chose to have my total rounded up to the nearest dollar to donate to the D. Gary Young Foundation. I’d say the biggest downfall with purchasing through Young Living is that the time from processing the order to delivery can feel like forever– mostly because I’m just really excited about the products I have purchased.

[Review] Living the Barre Life

It all started with a Groupon deal. My mom and I had purchased a 5-class pack for our first ever Barre class. We had no idea what was in store. Two years later, we are regular clients.

Here’s my review from the perspective of a long-time client.

I don’t know about you, but when I look that these boutique-style exercise classes, I look at the prices and think: Are you kidding me? Who would pay so much for this?

Well, after a few months of consistent attendance, I learned the value in that. When I go to my barre class, I know that I have a community of people who are genuinely interested in my well being. Other clients and instructors notice me, my progress, my mood. You aren’t just paying for someone to come teach a class, you are paying for a whole new community of support. That’s what makes these boutique style classes special. Sure, you can get to know the associate’s at your local gym, but I have never created friendships at the gym like I have at barre.

Now, on to the important aspect: the workout! It is tough and it never really gets easier. The reason for that is the further you progress, the more you learn about the correct technique. When you know the correct technique, you realize how to keep challenging your body to do more and work harder. The exercises are ever-changing and each instructor is left to create the class. This makes it less likely for the classes to be the same each time. Since I’ve been taking barre class, I have gained a lot of strength and confidence in myself.

If you have the opportunity, take a Barre class! There are almost always Groupon deals or specials during holidays. It’s a great workout and you will not regret trying it! And now, I will leave you with this article that always makes me laugh: 100 Thoughts I Have During Pure Barre Class.

Why Young Living?

I know what you are thinking: not another network marketing company. I did too. In fact, I crashed and burned when I attempted to do Mary Kay (but that’s another story).

But hear me out! I’ll tell you why I think Young Living (YL) is different from other network marketing companies.

You do not need to buy merchandise and manage inventory. This is a biggie. A lot of network marketing companies will require you to purchase inventory that you have to curate to what you THINK your POTENTIAL customers will want. This is not the case with YL. If you sign up as a distributor with YL, there isn’t any pressure to purchase inventory. The reason for this is because everyone orders their own products, just like any other online business. Now- I’m not sugar coating anything for you, here. You do have to purchase a starter kit. The starter kits can range from $160-$260 and the only difference is which diffuser you end up choosing (hint: the cheapest is the Dewdrop diffuser kit). WHAT, $160 you say?! This kit gives you the most popular essential oils that are used through YL. The cost to purchase each individual piece of this kit goes way beyond the actual price of the kit. it is definitely worth it. Trust me.

Easy going company model. There is no obligation to add anyone to your downline. When you sign up as a distributor you receive 24% off all YL products. In my opinion, there are two overarching scenarios you can go with when you sign up as a distributor:

Scenario 1: You love using the products and getting the 24% off discount as a distributor, but you don’t really want to pursue the business-side. This is perfectly okay! 93% of Young Living members are distributors mostly to reap the benefits. My mom is a YL distributor, but she’s just interested in getting the products at a great price and reaping the Essential Rewards program to get even more products for free (I’ll get to that soon). (side note: you can always change your mind later)

Scenario 2: You are all about becoming a distributor and working towards the business side of YL.

The best part? It doesn’t matter which scenario seems more like what you are looking for. Just buy your starter kit and start playing with the oils and other products however you see fit.

The rewards!!! This is by far one of the best aspects of YL: Essential Rewards. Now, this may need a post completely on its own but here is the overarching point: Consistently purchase YL products each month, get a percentage of that back in rewards points to purchase MORE for free! The points don’t expire until 1 year after they are issued so you can save up and spend whenever you want to. In addition to these rewards (which you only get as a distributor), you also get free products when you make your monthly order through Essential Rewards. It is basically on a buy more get more platform. Every tier you reach, you will more FREE product.

Just to recap… when you have a YL Distributor account:

  • Receive 24% off. All the time. No minimums, no tricks.
  • Enroll in Essential Rewards monthly purchase (min 50PV = $50 typically)
    • 1-3 consecutive months: an additional 10% off (Spend $100 -> get 10PV added to account, etc)
    • 4-24 consecutive months: an additional 20% off
    • 25 & up: an additional 25% off
*these are reflected as PV points and are available to redeem when shopping

The Seed to Seal Promise. For more detailed info visit here. YL essential oils are the purest oils on the market. Yes, you can go on Amazon and find oils that are cheaper than YL and get your order through Prime… HOWEVER, those oils are not going through extreme lengths to make sure they are healthy for you. Your skin is so important so please research your essential oils before considering something other than Young Living. Please.

There is always the option to join as a retail customer. You just won’t reap the extra rewards (immediate 24% off), but if you looking to purchase just a couple oils or products once in a while, then it may be best for you.

I hope this gives some insight on how Young Living works and how you can use it to your advantage to get amazing products that will improve your overall well-being.

erprogramIncome Disclosure Statement

Hi, I’m Kelly!

Helllooo! Welcome to my blog. I plan to write pretty much whatever I’m in the mood to talk about. I created this blog as a way to share my opinions on products, events, exercise classes, etc. However, the main reason I decided to create this blog began when I started living the oily-life (some of you are prob like: WTH? Oily life?).

I can’t pinpoint exactly when I was introduced into Young Living products. All I remember is my mom giving me these essential oils when I would complain about something that was bothering me. It would go a little bit like this:

Me: Man, I’ve got this headache that just won’t go away today.
Mom: Headache, you say? Put this peppermint oil on your forehead!
Me: Uhhh… OK, Mom… (what the heck has my mom gotten into now?)

As I began using these oils as directed, I started to notice my body reacting differently. I wasn’t taking OTC medicines for my stomach problems, headaches, fatigue, insomnia, etc. That’s when I thought “Huh, maybe these oils really do help.”

After much convincing (I’m a skeptic), I finally purchased my own Young Living starter kit. Since then, I’ve been living the oily life (you get it now? 😀 ) and simply sharing what I have gained from these lovely little bottles of amazing smells and magical powers (they might as well have special powers!).

Now I’m the person telling people to put peppermint on their foreheads and seeing the reactions I gave my mom. (little secret: I kind of love blowing people’s minds with these oils)

I hope you enjoy my rantings as well as little tips and tricks that I have learned along the way through using essential oils. Stay tuned! 😉
